Thanks to detailed descriptions from a passer-by, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police quickly arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of metal from a construction site Wednesday in the 4500 block of Rocky River Road in the University City area.
Police charged Talvi Moore, 30, and Samari Walker, 37, with felony larceny from a construction site.
Walker also had outstanding orders for arrest on nine cocaine and marijuana charges, Mecklenburg County jail records show. He was jailed Wednesday on $55,000 bail, while Moore was jailed on $10,000 bail.
About 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, the theft victim told police he pulled into the driveway of a home he’s building and saw two men loading metal onto a trailer. The victim confronted the men and an argument ensued, police said. The men then drove off with the stolen metal.

A motorist driving by the construction site saw what was happening, followed the vehicle and called 911 with a detailed description of the vehicle, police said.
Officers soon stopped the vehicle on Interstate 85 near West Sugar Creek Road, saw the stolen metal and arrested the men.
