Two women injured in Cleveland County drive-by shooting

Two women were shot by a passing motorist while drinking coffee on a front porch in Cleveland County Saturday morning, sheriff’s Lt. Billy Fredell said.

The motorist drove by the home on O.G. Lail Road in a small gray car at about 7:50 a.m., drove back, stopped and fired four or five pellets from a shotgun, Fredell said. The women dropped to the floor of the porch and crawled into the house, but were struck by birdshot from the pellets, Fredell said.

The women sought treatment at a hospital for minor injuries, the officer said. One is 80 years old and the other is in her mid-60s.

The women were unable to get a description of the shooter because the road is 40 or 50 yards from the home, Fredell said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-481-TIPS (8477). Joe Marusak
