Charlotte police searching for killer of 32-year-old woman in south side

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said detectives are looking for a suspect in a south Charlotte homicide. Police on Wednesday identified the victim as Whitney Elizabeth Hurd, 32.

CMPD detectives found Hurd’s missing vehicle around 10 a.m. Thursday.

Her family reported her missing on July 11. Hurd’s body was discovered around 1:30 p.m. by homicide investigators three days later, on July 14, at a home in the 5500 block of Werburgh Street.

The case was ruled a homicide after police spoke with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

CMPD is asking anyone with information to call 704-432-TIPS. Detective Grazier is the lead detective assigned to the case.
