911 call leads to 4 people shot along busy Charlotte road, CMPD says. One has died

UPDATE: Kevin Jeremy Zetino, 19, and Adilio Cesar Garcia Lemus, 24, have been arrested in connection with the Aug. 2 shootings on Shamrock Drive, CMPD said. Both are charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.

One person has died and three others have life-threatening injuries after a series of shootings on Shamrock Drive in east Charlotte late Friday, police said.

The man who died has been identified as Jose Octavio Cruz, 57, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release. Identities of the other three people have not been released.

Just after 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 3500 block of Shamrock Drive, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release.

“Two subjects were located in the roadway with life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment,” police said. “Two additional victims were located with life-threatening injuries at a nearby residence.”

One of those found in the home died at the scene, police said.

Police haven’t said if they know what prompted the shootings or if they have a suspect in custody.

The victims were found in a largely residential area that surrounds the Charlotte Museum of History.
