Report: Truck stolen in Rock Hill while owner was in woods using bathroom

A truck that was stolen from the side of Dave Lyle Boulevard while the owner was using the bathroom in the woods was later recovered, according to Rock Hill Police.

The victim pulled to the side of the 2800 block of Dave Lyle Boulevard about 4:45 a.m. Monday to nap before driving to York, according to a police report. He woke up about 5:35 a.m. and walked into the woods “in order to relieve himself.”

While the victim was in the woods, he heard his Toyota Tacoma start up and realized someone was driving it away, police said. He didn’t see anyone in the area, and told officers his wallet and personal belongings were in the truck.

The truck was found in the woods on the 600 block of Red River Road just before 9 a.m. Monday, police said.
