A woman was found dead near a Charlotte area highway. Could her necklace identify her?
Update: The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 25 identified the woman as 33-year-old Iltride Dade, from Haiti. Dade was traveling with her boyfriend, Jacques Hans-Jerome, 47, a long-haul truck driver, to Concord. She was reported missing by her family to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 2 after she didn’t arrive in Florida.
Hans-Jerome was charged with unlawful concealment of a death. An arrest warrant alleged he attempted to put Dade’s body in trash bags after she was dead and threw her body from a bridge on U.S. Highway 601 South. He was being held at the Cabarrus County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.
A woman was found dead near a highway in Cabarrus County last Monday, and authorities are trying to solve two mysteries: how she died and who she is.
The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office published two photos with a press release Tuesday, hoping someone can identify the woman.
One of the photos showed the white sweatpants she was wearing, which had an image of a race car between green, white and red stripes and a black-and-white checker pattern.
The other photo is a multi-colored gemstone necklace with a gold chain lying against a piece of teal fabric that authorities said she was wearing.
“The victim is described as a Black female, approximately 5’4” and weighing around 150 pounds, dressed in a black top and white/grey sweatpants with a distinctive screen print on the leg (see picture),” according to the press release. She did not have tattoos.
Investigators believe she was killed somewhere else before being moved to Highway 601 south near Rocky River Bridge, where she was found, the press release said.
The sheriff’s office said it is working with other law enforcement agencies to look through missing persons reports in the region. It also asked people with information to reach out to the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office directly, or CrimeStoppers.
