Three people in separate homicide cases have been killed in Charlotte since Tuesday night, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and police reports identified them as Jadarrian Boyd, 28, who was killed Tuesday; a 15-year-old boy killed Wednesday; and 61-year-old Loren Garnet Dudley, who was killed Wednesday. They were all shot, police say.

Boyd was found shot dead inside of an apartment near the 5700 block of Leake Street in West Charlotte around 10:00 p.m. Officers responded to a domestic call.

A CMPD incident report said Boyd was shot with a handgun, and that the person who killed him was “outside family.”

Shakara Linette Sinclair, 30, allegedly shot Boyd after he assaulted her mother, who intervened in a physical fight the pair had at the apartment, a police affidavit said. She was charged with first-degree murder.

Affidavit details

During the argument, Sinclair pushed Boyd out of the apartment and locked the door, the affidavit said. He beat on the door and Sinclair’s mother let him back in inside.

Another argument ensued between Boyd, Sinclair and her mother, the affidavit said, with Boyd pushing Sinclair on the couch. She allegedly began assaulting Boyd, and Sinclair’s mother broke up the fight.

Sinclair then got a gun and shot Boyd twice, firing off a second shot when she thought she didn’t hit him the first time, according to the affidavit.

Sinclair called 911 and said she got into an altercation with Boyd, who walked down a hallway and collapsed while she was on the phone.

The affidavit said he had two gunshot wounds.

Teenager killed

Two people were killed Wednesday night, including the 15-year-old boy, who was shot near the 400 block of West 8th Street in the uptown area at 6:46 p.m., according to a CMPD report.

Police identified the teen as Matthias Crockett, 15, and identified Keshawn Boyd, 27, as the shooter on Friday. Boyd made his first appearance in court with his public defender on Thursday.

The Charlotte man said he was making a DoorDash delivery when Crockett and another man attempted to steal his car, according to Charlotte Observer news partner WSOC and court records. Boyd’s public defender said he was acting in self-defense when he shot Crockett inside of his vehicle because he thought the duo were armed.

Dudley was killed around 10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Catalina Avenue in northeast Charlotte, according to police. Officers were called to the shooting. No arrests had been announced by police.

The department has reported six homicides since the beginning of the year.
