CMPD investigating death near southwest Charlotte elementary school
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s homicide unit was conducting a death investigation near a school Thursday morning, a department alert said.
The investigation was near the 7000 block of Nations Ford Road in southwest Charlotte, according to the 10:30 a.m. alert.
Nations Ford Elementary School and the former E.E. Waddell High School building are located near the scene.
Observer news partner WSOC reported police tape surrounded a nearby playground.
A spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools had no comment, and further details were not yet available.
