A York County man has been arrested in a fatal shooting Monday morning in Fort Mill near Carowinds, deputies said.

Police took Duan Ralphielle Partlow, 46, into custody after a traffic stop about 20 miles away near York, about four hours after the shooting happened around 5:30 a.m., the York County Sheriff’s Office said in a written statement.

Partlow, of Sharon, located in western York County, is in the county jail after he was charged Monday afternoon with murder and possession of a weapon, deputies said.

The shooting happened after an argument between Partlow and the victim that escalated into violence, Sheriff Tony Breeden said in the statement.

The York County Coroner has not yet identified the victim. The scene was off Carowinds Boulevard near the North Carolina state line, close to a Circle K gas station and other businesses around Exit 90 off I-77.
