MLK Jr. Middle School in Charlotte placed on lockdown as precaution after nearby shooting
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police posted an alert saying they were investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon near Martin Luther King. Jr. Middle School in east Charlotte.
The scene was in the 500 block of Bilmark Avenue near Springview Road, police said. The school was locked down as a precaution.
It appeared that police had set up yellow tape around a nearby apartment complex.
Police had not released any further details as of Friday morning. A police captain at the scene Thursday declined to comment.
