Suspect charged in November homicide

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested Antonio Rollins, 22, Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Rollins was later charged with first-degree murder in connection with the late-November death of Jose Cuestas, 19. Cuestas was found in the 4300 block of Sunset Road on Saturday Nov. 29 with a gunshot wound. He later died of his injury at Carolinas Medical Center.

In an initial police department news release, police said they believed the suspect and victim knew each other.

Rollins was identified as a suspect during the investigation and the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested him Thursday, where he was interviewed and then charged with first-degree murder, the police department said.

Rollins is now in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department.
