Two people were hospitalized and another person was arrested after shots were fired outside a nightclub in west Charlotte early Friday, police said.

One person was shot in the abdomen outside Club 935 in the 900 block of South Summit Avenue, off West Morehead Street.

When the shots were fired, people scattered and a woman was hit by a car. She and the shooting victim were taken to Carolinas Medical Center but are expected to be OK.

The shooter was arrested and the weapon was recovered, police said. Police believe an argument led to the shooting. No names have been released.

The club in the Wesley Heights community has been the scene of several shootings in recent years.

In April, a man was hospitalized after he was shot in his back in a parking lot beside the club.

The victim told police he was in the lot when he heard five to six gunshots before realizing he had been hit. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

In February 2013, Paul Fyffe Jr., 24, was killed in a shooting at the nightclub. The next month, a woman was shot while sitting in her car outside the club.

In September 2013, an argument at the club is believed to have led to the fatal shooting of Terrell Jamal Jones, 23, who was found dead at an apartment complex in southwest Charlotte.
