Hickory police confirmed an arrest warrant was issued after someone in a clown mask and wig wielded an ax at an acquaintance last week.
At 4:32 a.m. Friday, Hickory police were called to a residence in the 1300 block of 20th Avenue N.E. regarding an assault, police spokeswoman Chrystal Dieter said Monday.
A 31-year-old woman said a man had been outside her home wearing a clown mask and multicolored wig, Dieter said. The man asked her to come out, and she did.
The suspect then swung an ax at the woman several times but apparently did not hit her. There were no visible signs of assault, Dieter said.
The woman managed to partially lift up the clown mask and recognized an acquaintance of hers, according to Dieter.
The suspect fled in a vehicle, Dieter said. It is not known what precipitated the incident.
Police identified the suspect as Jimmy Raybon, 31, of Connelly Springs. The woman went to a local magistrate and obtained a warrant for Raybon’s arrest on an assault with a deadly weapon charge, Dieter said.
