Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have a mystery on their hands after witnesses reported seeing a woman “forcibly” put in an SUV — after the vehicle struck her in the dark, investigators say.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the 1600 block of Toddville Road, and police are asking the public to help find the woman. The neighborhood is in northwest Charlotte, off Freedom Drive.

“Witnesses observed a vehicle striking a female pedestrian. Witnesses also reported seeing this same female forcibly removed against her will from the area by the suspect,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police wrote in a May 15 news release.

“The driver damaged a nearby utility box and pole, which led to the temporary closure of Toddville Road.”

Witnesses described the woman as Hispanic, 18 to 25 years old, with “black shoulder-length hair and (she) was wearing a white shirt and black shorts,” CMPD said.

“CMPD’s Homicide Unit is looking for any information on the suspect vehicle, said to be a gold sport utility vehicle with front-end damage,” CMPD said.

Anyone with information is asked to speak directly to a detective in the Homicide Unit at 704-432-8477 (TIPS). Anonymous tips can be offered through Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, officials said.
