Juvenile charges filed in arson at Charlotte Harris Teeter, fire officials say

The Charlotte Fire Department said Friday it had charged a juvenile in connection with the May 10 fire at a Harris Teeter in north Charlotte.

The fire was at the grocery chain’s Davis Lake Parkway location. No one was injured but the fire caused $500,000 in damages.

The Charlotte Fire Department said it took 90 firefighters 70 minutes to bring it under control. A Harris Teeter spokesperson said the location would remain temporarily closed.

Fire officials released no further information on the charges or investigation.

It was the second intentionally set fire at a Harris Teeter since January. Joshua Louis Rabon, of Lancaster, S.C., was charged with burning of an occupied commercial structure after items on a shelf were set on fire at a Harris Teeter on Rea Road in south Charlotte.
