15-year-old killed after someone shot into northeast Charlotte apartment

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for the person who fired into an occupied northeast Charlotte apartment Thursday night, killing a 15-year-old boy.

The shooting occurred just before 11:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Merrick Street, a CMPD press release said. A 30-year-old woman, 14-year-old boy, and three children were also inside the home at the time, a police report said. The children were ages 3, 6, and 8.

No one else in the home was injured, but the shooting caused $1,000 in damages. The 15-year-old boy has not been identified by police.

No arrest has been announced. The police report said the shooter was not known by any of the victims.
