Missing Iredell County teen found dead in Lake Norman near docks, authorities said

The body of an Iredell County teen reported missing was found Wednesday in Lake Norman waters, authorities said.

Angel Carabello, 14, died by accidental drowning with no foul play found, Dara St. John, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said.

The report has not been released as the case is still under investigation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Angel’s family during this time,” Iredell County sheriff said in a Facebook post.

Carabello’s father, Misael, said he last saw on Wednesday, July 9 when the teen entered the lake on a raft while he was renovating the lakeside house, Charlotte Observer’s news partner WSOC-TV reported.

That same day the Sheriff’s Office asked for assistance in locating a teen who was reported last seen earlier that afternoon in the Stutts Road, Mooresville area.

Multiple search units were sent out to the area and Carabello’s body was recovered by a remotely operated vehicle.
