A former Carolina Panthers linebacker was charged in Charlotte with domestic assault and assault on a female.

Amaré Barno, 26, was arrested Thursday just before 1 a.m. after his ex-girlfriend accused him in an affidavit of shoving her into a vehicle and then shoving her again when she didn’t fall to the ground during an argument.

The woman accused Barno of trying to take her purse and dumping its contents on the ground when she tried to remove items from a Charlotte home. The woman said in the affidavit that she then turned off the home’s power, and accused Barno of using “unnecessary physical force.”

Barno, a South Carolina native, was drafted by the Panthers in 2022. The team waived him on July 25.

The altercation was caught on camera, according a police warrant. The warrant said a police officer reviewed the footage.
