Myers Park High principal affirms students are safe after shooting near bus

The principal at Myers Park High School reassured families no one was injured after a school bus was forced off of its route Tuesday morning because of gunshots nearby.

Principal Bob Folk said in a message to parents that the bus was at a stop in south Charlotte when the shots rang out and that the driver left after hearing them.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said it occurred near the 2800 block of Baltimore Avenue and that the bus was not hit. CMPD said the bus was not the intended target.

Folk encouraged families to use the “Say Something” app to report concerns anonymously.

“Your vigilance is essential in maintaining a safe and secure school environment,” Folk said. “Thank you for your continued support of Myers Park High School.”
