Police say west Charlotte homicide was justified but release few details
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they will not bring charges in a fatal shooting in west Charlotte in September because the shooter was justified.
The department hasn’t said what happened.
Rogerick Llevon Currie, 35, was shot Sept. 7 and died after being taken to the hospital, a CMPD press release said.
A police report has conflicting information.
The shooting occurred at 1:25 a.m. outdoors at 4025 Queen City Drive, the police report said. Currie was “shot and killed by a known suspect,” the report said.
But under the “victim/suspect relationship” section of the report, it said Currie did not know the shooter.
The address is for MobilityWorks, which provides wheelchair accessible vans.
CMPD did not immediately say why the shooter’s name has not been released, whether Currie and the shooter knew each other or not, what police believe led to the shooting, and why police believe the killing was justified.
