A CMS volunteer coach accused of shooting into a Charlotte property was arrested in South Carolina on Wednesday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Dia’Mond Johnson, 27, was charged with two counts of shooting into an occupied property, a CMPD press release said.

Johnson was arrested by deputy sheriffs with assistance from Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, according to Deputy Trent Faris of the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson is a non-faculty member coach, CMPD said. The shooting did not involve any students, staff or Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools property, CMPD said.

CMS could not be immediately reached for comment on Johnson’s employment status.

Johnson, of Clover, South Carolina, was charged with being a fugitive from justice in York County, according to jail records. He was being held in York County while waiting for extradition to Charlotte.

Ballantyne Ridge High School Principal Michael Miliote sent a message to families that said Johnson was a volunteer football coach and will not be allowed to volunteer at any schools in the district anymore.

Andrew Dys of The Herald contributed.
