911 call leads to body in Charlotte residential neighborhood, CMPD says

A body was discovered when Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to reports of an assault in a residential neighborhood, CMPD says.

The discovery was made just after 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, in the 9100 block of Trinity Road. The neighborhood is east of Beatties Ford Road, near Hornets Nest Park.

“Officers discovered a victim who sustained an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene,” CMPD said.

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives have not released the person’s identity.

“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective,” CMPD said. “The public can also leave information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.”
