A man was found shot to death just north of the Brookshire Freeway on Wednesday, and narcotics were located near the body, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

He has been identified as 23-year-old Elijah Vashon Parker.

The discovery was made around 3:30 p.m. near the CSX railroad tracks along the 300 block of Alpha Mill Lane, CMPD said in a news release. The site is adjacent to a gated condominium community just off North Brevard Street.

“Officers received an assault-with-a-deadly weapon call. ... Upon arrival, we located a victim, a male victim, who was deceased from at least once gunshot wound,” CMPD Major Gene Lim reported in a Jan. 14 social media post.

“I can share with you that there were some narcotics located on the scene, and we’re dealing with that as well.”

Lim added that the crime scene is a high traffic area with “a lot of cars and also a lot of pedestrian foot traffic.”

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the CMPD Homicide Unit at 704-432-8477 (TIPS). Anonymous tips can be offered through Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
