One dead in Tuesday afternoon Charlotte shooting

At least one person was killed Tuesday in a shooting in southeast Charlotte.

The incident happened just before 4 p.m. near a home on the 400 block of Skyland Avenue, which runs between Dunn Avenue and Sam Drenan Road.

Medic confirmed that one person was killed. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they are calling the incident a homicide.

Anthony Howie, 33, was identified as the victim. Medic pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

CMPD said it’s believed Howie was shot as the result of a domestic dispute and that he knew the suspect.
