Robber of Charlotte Dunkin’, 7-Eleven, Family Dollar gets stiff prison sentence
A robber who terrified employees of Charlotte Dunkin’, Family Dollar and 7-Eleven stores was sentenced Tuesday to nearly 33 years in prison, U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson said.
Andrew Marquis Jackson, 33, of Charlotte, robbed the stores with two assailants, according to a news release by Ferguson’s office in Charlotte.
In the first robbery, Jackson approached the counter, demanded cash from the register and fired a shot into the ceiling at a Dunkin’ store on Beatties Ford Road on Jan. 24, 2023, according to court documents.
Jackson held an employee at gunpoint while taking money from the registers, court records show.
Three days later, Jackson fired a shot into the ceiling of a 7-Eleven on Brookshire Boulevard, pointed the gun at a store employee and ordered him to hand over all the money in the register, according to court records. Jackson ran from the store with the money, prosecutors said.
On Feb. 1, 2023, Jackson and another robber pointed guns at employees behind the counter of a Family Dollar store on Beatties Ford Road and took cash from a register, court records show.
Jackson was previously convicted of three counts each of Hobbs Act robbery and conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of possessing, brandishing, and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and one count of possessing and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
