Gunshot victim died as police were attempting ‘life-saving measures,’ CMPD says
A gunshot victim found in a north Charlotte residential neighborhood died as police were attempting life-saving measures, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
The man has been identified as 27-year-old Luis Fernando Hernandez.
Investigators say the discovery was made around 4 p.m. Friday, when police responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 2200 block of Alma Court, CMPD said in a March 6 news release.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with apparent gun shot wounds. Officers attempted lifesaving measures,” CMPD said. “MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased.”
The shooting is being investigated as a homicide. CMPD has not released details of a suspect.
The neighborhood sits between Statesville Avenue and Interstate 77.
