CMPD says fatal shooting in west Charlotte was not a random act of violence

A fatal shooting in west Charlotte Wednesday morning was not a random act, said a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department spokesperson.

Police responded to a breaking-and-entering call in the 10000 block of Florentine Way at 9:04 a.m., a news release said.

A man was found shot to death at the scene, the release said.

Brian Gallagher, a department spokesperson, said everyone in the incident has been identified, but did not provide names.

CMPD said anyone with information about the crime could contact 704-432-8477 to speak with a detective or 704-334-1600 to reach Charlotte Crime Stoppers.
