Bullet struck man in head on I-485 near Charlotte Premium Outlets, CMPD says
A Charlotte man has been arrested in connection with gunfire on Interstate 485 that struck a man in the head near the Charlotte Premium Outlets, according to an affidavit.
Dailyn Young, 23, was arrested July 10, and faces four felony charges, including attempted first degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, Mecklenburg County jail records show. He is being held without bond.
Young was driving a stolen Infiniti around 11 a.m. on June 7 when the shooting happened, officials say. A motive has not been released.
“The defendant produced a 9 mm black handgun and fired two times into the victims’ vehicle,” an affidavit says.
“The passenger of the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries at the time of the incident when one of the bullets struck him in the head. The defendant fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. The defendant was identified by the victims description and vehicle being located with the defendant operating it.”
Parish Killian was traveling with his son in a Jeep Compass when he was shot, officials say.
The two were on their way to do yard work for a friend when the suspect’s vehicle cut them off in traffic, resulting in what may have been a case of road rage, WSOC reports. Honking the horn led to words being exchanged between the two drivers, followed by gunfire, the station says.
Killian’s injuries have “left him facing a long and challenging road to recovery,” a GoFundMe campaign reports.
“Parish will need extensive rehabilitation, and the financial impact of his injuries means he will struggle to cover medical bills and daily expenses during this period,” the campaign says
