Driver charged in Kings Mountain pedestrian death
A motorist has been arrested and charged in Friday’s death of a pedestrian in Kings Mountain.
Jose Abel Lopez Mejia, 24, of Gastonia, died after being struck by a hit-and-run motorist on the side of the eastbound U.S. 74 Bypass ramp near Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain police said.
Acting on a tip from an anonymous caller about the location of the vehicle, police arrested Davie Demond Boone, 36, of Shelby, on a charge of felony hit-and-run. Boone was jailed on $5,000 bail.
