Police: Gunmen tie up 73-year-old woman in Charlotte home invasion

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for two men who they say broke into a 73-year-old woman’s home while wielding a handgun and tied her up before robbing her early Friday.

Officers went to the 1300 block of LaSalle Street at 7:45 a.m. after receiving calls about an occupied breaking and entering of a residence, according to a police department news release.

The woman told police she was home alone when two men, armed with a handgun, broke in through her back door and tied her up. They took some of her belongings before fleeing in a black sport utility vehicle.

Investigators searched the area but could not find the suspects. Police say the break-in was not random, adding that they believe the suspects targeted the house because they were looking for drugs.

Anyone with further information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or visit the Crime Stoppers mobile app website at http://charlottecrimestoppers.com.
