Police investigating Salisbury shootings that left 1 dead, 2 injured
Police in Salisbury are trying to sort out what sparked a shooting on Rachel Lane that left one person dead and two injured Wednesday evening.
Police believe all three people knew each other and they aren’t looking for additional suspects or victims, but investigators haven’t made any arrests or detailed what led to the shootings.
Investigators have not released the name of the person who was killed.
Tonya Veann Wilkes, who lives at the home at 1011 Rachel Lane, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She had nonlife-threatening injuries.
Desmond Kirkland, who lives in China Grove, was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle, where he was also treated for a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound. Police say they later linked him to the shooting on Rachel Lane.
Police remained at the home late Wednesday and said the investigation was ongoing.
