A Go Fund Me site established to help with the funeral expenses of 7-year-old shooting victim Kevin Antonio Calderon Rodas surpassed its $3,000 goal at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Kevin died when several men opened fire Saturday night when a pinata broke during a 2-year-old girl’s birthday party in the front yard of a house on Fieldvale Drive, in the Springfield subdivision off Nations Ford Road. Three people were injured.

By 2 p.m. Tuesday, $4,025 had been raised by 124 people on the Go Fund Me site.

Police have announced no updates in the case but continue to ask anyone with information in Kevin’s killing to call 704-432-TIPS (8477) and talk directly with a homicide unit detective. Or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Police also will hold a Springfield community meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ebenezer Pentecostal Church, 100 Ann Marie Drive.
