Erica Adams, part of the staff that helps keep Mecklenburg County’s court system running, has received a prestigious national award for court management.
Adams, operations administrator for the county’s Trial Court Administrator’s Office, has won the 2015 Perkins Award from the National Association for Court Management.
The honor is bestowed for contributions to the courts and to public service.
Adams has worked for the court administrative office for 17 years. She oversees budgetary services, technology and facility management for the courthouse while also overseeing jury services.

To cut down on juror absences, she set up regular court hearings for chronic offenders and helped establish an online link that allows jurors to check trial status and reschedule themselves via a website.
Adams helped plan, design and equip more than 569,000 square feet of space when the courthouse opened in 2007. She also handles human resources for a staff of 42 employees.
