A 65-year-old Statesville-area man faces dozens more child sex assault charges after a second woman came forward to say she was assaulted 35 years ago.
Michael Thomas Chambers was originally charged this month with 69 counts of first-degree sexual offense against a child under age 12.
The charges followed a report to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office on June 16 about a child being assaulted in Chambers’ home over six years, starting in 2009, authorities said.
Investigators filed 37 additional counts of the offense against Chambers after the second woman came forward, Sheriff Darren Campbell said. That makes for a total of 106 counts against Chambers.
