2 Union County men sentenced in child porn cases
Two Union County men were sentenced to prison this week in separate child pornography cases.
Jason Michael Brown, 41, of Indian Trail, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, and John Moore Jr., 56, of Monroe, was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Brown must serve a lifetime of supervised release once his prison terms ends and Moore 20 years.
In December 2011, law enforcement learned of a person later identified as Brown who was sharing child pornography with others through software, court records show.
Brown had a child pornography collection of more than 10,000 images and videos depicting children being sexually abused. Brown also was found to have sexually abused a child under age five, prosecutors said.
In September 2014, Brown pleaded guilty to transportation of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Law enforcement officers learned of Moore’s child pornography collection in September 2009, after a computer repair technician discovered the collection while repairing Moore’s computer. Moore had at least 1,200 images of child pornography and videos, according to prosecutors.
Moore pleaded guilty in April 2013 to possession of child pornography.
