Lincolnton man faces more child porn charges

A 37-year-old Lincolnton man arrested Aug. 27 has been served with more child pornography charges by Gastonia police.

Daniel Lee Rathbone was served Wednesday with warrants charging him with five more felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The warrants followed more forensic examinations of computers seized from Rathbone’s home, Lincoln County sheriff’s Detective Dan Renn said.

Rathbone was arrested in August after an investigation by the N.C. Internet Crimes against Children Task Force and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force.

Officers said they seized numerous hard drives, computers and other devices belonging to Rathbone. The devices contained images and video of suspected child pornography, investigators said.

Rathbone was originally charged with five felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

His bail was raised from $250,000 to $750,000 on Wednesday.
