Police nab four suspects in Steele Creek vehicle break-ins
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said 911 callers helped them quickly find and arrest four suspects in vehicle break-ins in Steele Creek this week.
About 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported that someone was breaking into his vehicle in the 13000 block of Winter Hazel Road, off Steelecroft Parkway and South Tryon Street.
The victim told police when they arrived that he’d followed and confronted the person, who along with two nearby suspects hit him before they left the area. Police learned a total of four vehicles had been stolen or had items stolen from them in the neighborhood.
About 11:40 p.m., officers responded to a call of vehicles being broken into in the 14000 block of Lake Crossing Drive, off Steele Creek Road.
The caller said an off-duty Metro Division officer had detained one of the suspects. Other officers arrived and detained three other suspects nearby.
Arrested were:
▪ Vincent Gardner, 17, on charges of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer, intoxicated and disruptive behavior and consuming alcohol by someone under 18.
