One person was shot and seriously injured during in the parking lot of the Bank of America branch on Beatties Ford Road Monday afternoon.
Police have not released the identity of the person who was shot. The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to paramedics, but police later said the injuries were nonlife-threatening.
The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. outside the bank branch. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police spokeswoman Officer Jessica Wallin said the victim was robbed before being shot, but it was unclear if the person was a customer at the bank.
Photos of the scene showed a police officer standing guard behind police tape as detectives investigated the shooting.

Police have not given details about the robbery or released a name or description of the shooting suspect. WSOC-TV reported that the male victim was depositing money, but police have not confirmed the news station’s report. Bank of America branches were closed on Monday for Columbus Day. No one was in custody Wednesday afternoon.
The branch made news this summer when Bank of America announced that it would cut drive-up lanes as demand for the service declined.
