Police draw guns after man drives through crime tape
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police quickly drew their guns when the family member of a shooting victim drove through crime scene tape in west Charlotte early Wednesday.
Police said someone shot into a car around 1 a.m. on Carlyle Drive. A man, whose name has not been released, was shot three times. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A family member of the shooting victim drove his car right through crime scene tape that had been put up by police. Officers scattered and quickly drew their guns on the car.
The man was upset to hear about the shooting. He was not arrested.
Police said they do not have a description of the shooter.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
The shooting was the first of two that happened on that street within a 15-hour period.
A man was taken to the hospital after being shot in the 3900 block of Carlyle Drive around 4 p.m. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries. Police have not released the man’s name or given details about a suspect. WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, reported the two victims were brothers.
