Kannapolis man charged in Sonic drive-in robbery

A Kannapolis man has been charged in connection with Saturday’s robbery of the Sonic drive-in restaurant near Landis.

Rowan County sheriff’s investigators charged Marlin Phillip Brown Jr., 23, with robbery with a firearm or other dangerous weapon. Brown was jailed Tuesday on $50,000 bail.

Investigators are not saying what evidence led them to arrest Brown.

About 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a man with a knife and a covering over his face robbed an employee of the Sonic, investigators said.
