5 arrested on DWI charges at traffic checkpoint

Police charged five motorists with driving while impaired during an overnight traffic checkpoint on East Seventh Street near McDowell Street in Charlotte.

Police filed 22 total charges during the three-hour checkpoint, including five for drivers having suspended licenses, Sgt. J.D. Wood of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s DWI Task Force said.
