Statesville police arrest gang members accused in burglary ring
Police in Statesville say they’ve locked up several members of a local gang who are suspected of breaking into homes in the south part of the city and stealing electronics.
Seven suspects — all alleged members of the “Hot Boyz” gang in south Statesville — are charged with a variety of burglary and larceny charges. Some of the men are also wanted in connection with a robbery at gunpoint at Wilmington and Third Streets.
Three other men are wanted by police but are still at large.
The following men have been arrested and were in Iredell jail:
▪ Lonnell Jakwon Williams, 18, of Statesville.
▪ Julien Tony Jones, 19, of Statesville.
▪ Malik Sha’ron Sturgis, 16, of Statesville
▪ Demarcus Lamont Maddox Jr., 17, of Statesville
▪ Titeon Burton, 17, of Statesville
▪ Brendon Gerard Steele, of Mocksville,
▪ Curtis Lamonte Gray Jr. of Mocksville
Judakiss Jawade Morrison, 16, Shabaz Daequan Lovette, 20, and Frederick Anthoy Cherry, 19, both of Statesville, are still at large.
Police say the burglaries and other crimes are still under investigation and encouraged anyone with information on the crimes or who knows the locations of the three suspects who remained at large to call Statesville police at 704-878-3406 or Iredell Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for cash rewards.
