Lenoir woman sentenced in 2013 fatal shooting
A Lenoir woman has been sentenced to up to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the 2013 fatal shooting in Caldwell County.
Prosecutors said Cynthia Darlene Chisholm, 42, had been in a domestic dispute with Stevenson Patterson Jr. a couple of days before she shot him once in the leg with a .380-caliber handgun. The bullet pierced Patterson’s femoral artery.
Patterson, 27, tried to drive himself to the hospital but lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road as he bled, prosecutors said. He died soon after the crash.
The shooting happened in the Dulatown community of Caldwell County.
