2 men accused of plotting to kill roommate

Two men are in the Iredell County jail on charges that they plotted to kill one of the pair’s roommates.

Mooresville police arrested Gamaliel Aguliar Gonzalez, 25, and Fermin Romero Tinajero, 32, on Sunday. They face charges of kidnapping, felony assault and conspiracy to commit homicide.

The charges stem from an incident in the 700 block of South Academy Street. The victim, whose identity has not been released, reported that he escaped after being assaulted. He was treated at a hospital in Huntersville and released.

Details about the motive for the assault have not been released.

Bond was set at $100,000 for Tinajero and $180,000 for Gonzalez, who also faces unrelated charges from Scotland County, according to a police report.
