Statesville man sentenced to at least 15 years for child sex assault

A Statesville man was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to statutory sex offense with a child.

Prosecutors said Michael Keith Crump, 25, fondled an 8-year-old girl at a home in Lenoir in January.

During interviews with police, Crump admitted to the assault and gave a written statement about the incident, prosecutors said.

A Caldwell County Superior Court judge sentenced Crump to a maximum 23 years in prison.
