Pedestrian struck by car, killed in Rock Hill

A pedestrian died Tuesday night after being struck by a car on Albright Road, police say.

At about 6:10 p.m., a 48-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car while crossing Albright Road near Eighth Street, according to a Rock Hill Police Department statement Tuesday night.

Police had not released the victim’s name Tuesday night.

Police say the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.

The Rock Hill Police Department’s Serious Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating, along with the York County Coroner’s Office.

Albright Road will be shut down for several hours while the investigation is being conducted, and traffic is being re-routed around the scene, police say. Motorists should use alternate routes to avoid the area.
