Mooresville woman arrested in debit card fraud case

A Mooresville woman has been charged with identity theft and financial card fraud after a man reported his Wells Fargo debit card had been used to make 660 purchases totaling $50,000.

Stephanie Clark Johnson, 56, was charged with 25 counts of identity theft and one count of financial card fraud, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday. She was jailed on $11,000 bail.

The transactions occurred at businesses throughout Iredell and online since November 2013, investigators said.

The man confronted Johnson and she promised to pay him back, but never did, investigators said.
