Hickory man charged with murder in fatal shooting

Hickory police have charged a man in a fatal shooting on Thursday.

Police found the body of Philip Eugene McLean, 45, at about 1 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of 17th St. Dr. NW. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

LaKeith Marshaun Lawrence, 20, of Hickory, was charged with murder. He was jailed without bail.

Police have not released a motive in the case but asked that anyone with information about the shooting call them at 828-328-5551.
