2 shot when groups exchange gunfire in Charlotte
Two people were taken to the hospital – one with potentially life-threatening injuries – after a shooting between two groups of people in southeast Charlotte, officials said.
The shooting happened about 7:45 p.m. Monday on Briar Creek Road near Commonwealth Avenue. According to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, two groups in a parking lot exchanged gunfire. Police said the groups knew each other and the shootings were not random, WBTV reported.
Police haven’t released the names of the people who were shot. They also hadn’t said whether a suspect was at large or if anyone had been arrested in connection with the shooting.
