Man shot in the head in Gastonia

One person is in custody and police are searching for a second suspect after a man was shot in the head in a Gastonia apartment early Thursday.

About 1:20 a.m., police were called to an apartment in the 2600 block of Pembroke Road and found the man unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Pembroke Road is off Cox Road near Interstate 85.

Police said they will release the victim’s name once his family is notified.
